Lomonosov Moscow State University. Programmes, Degrees, courses.
The application of the latest techniques in teaching provides the necessary background for an excellent education. The Diploma of Moscow University has won universal prestige and is recognised in many countries. Many educational programmes are carried out in close co-operation with research institutes of the University and the Russian Academy of Sciences. Almost programs at the University are delivered in Russian language. However, some graduate and a number of training programmes/schools are conducted in foreign languages. Traditionally, most of the University faculties teach domestic students according to the Specialist programme (5 years) and grant Specialist Diploma. However, since Russia has jointed Bologna Declaration on degrees and programs unification in Europe, the University developed Bachelour (4 years full time) and Master programmes (2 years full time). MA/MSc Degree holders wishing to pursue PhD Degree are welcome to apply for postgraduate studies (3 years) which are open at all of the faculties. General topics for postgraduate projects are listed in the each faculty information. PhD holders may pursue a Doctor of Science Degree. Other Programmes for International StudentsCourses of different type and duration, pre-university programmes, various specialized courses including teachers' and researchers' qualification advancement studies as well as courses of Russian language, history and culture of Russia are open for international students. Russian Language courses are very popular. You may start any time having any language proficiency. You may choose the intensity and duration of your language studies. Since almost graduate and postgraduate studies at the University are conducted in Russian, applicants are invited to preparatory course (Foundation) at the Center for International Education. Moscow State University offers a number of special programmes for groups of students from foreign universities. These programmes may last from one semester to one year. Students may choose to pass exams in the courses they take. Classes may be conducted in a foreign language. For visiting scholars we offer programmes with an individual curriculum, which could be confirmed by their home University if necessary. Summer schools Traditional summer schools of Moscow State University annually attract an ever-growing number of people. The schools' curriculum covers a wide range of subjects from Russian language study to the study of laser technologies, fundamental medical studies and other areas of modern science. Please contact the chosen faculty for the information on summer schools. Contemporary Educational Programs is authorised to perform International Summer School on Space Medicine and Biology, which is a joint project of CEP, MSU and Institute for Biomedical Problems, Russian Academy of Science. More information on the School is available here - http://www.cep.ru/smss.shtml ACADEMIC YEAR at MSU lasts from September till June and includes two semesters: Autumn (Fall) semester (01.09-24.01) and Spring semester (07.02-30.06). Duration of studies is as follows: BSc/BA - 8 semesters; MSc/MA - 4 semesters; Specialist - 10 semesters; Doctor of Medicine – 12 semesters; PhD - 6 semesters.
